How to Get Your Car Back If It’s Impounded in GTA 6?
GTA 6 hasn’t confirmed a police impound system yet. Rockstar hasn’t shown or mentioned what happens if Jason or Lucia’s car gets seized by police. In GTA 5, wanted vehicles left behind were often towed to an impound lot, where players had to pay a fee to reclaim them — or lose the car for good if they never went back. If GTA 6 keeps this system, expect something similar tied to its more realistic police AI.
How Impound Worked in GTA 5
In GTA 5, if you left a wanted vehicle behind — especially one flagged during a police chase — it could get towed to the local impound lot. Players had to physically travel there and pay a fee based on the vehicle’s value to get it back. Waiting too long, or never returning, meant losing the car permanently, which frustrated a lot of players who’d spent real money customizing it.
Why This Matters More in GTA 6
GTA 6 is reportedly bringing much more advanced police AI and a full range of police vehicles and agencies, which suggests wanted-level encounters will be more frequent and more consequential. Rockstar’s own official screenshot gallery already shows multiple police agencies in action across Vice City. If losing a car to police pursuit becomes more common, an impound or recovery system becomes even more important for players who want to keep their favorite rides.
